Couple Transforms Historic House into a Bed and Breakfast

Art and Kathy Winters opened the Brick INN at 516 W. 3rd St. in Oct. of 2006. The newlywed couple married in August of 2005 in the back yard of the inn and decided to pursue this venture together as Art had retired from the St. Louis Public schools.
A full hot breakfast is served daily.
The bed and breakfast is located on half-acre with two stately pecan trees and off street parking. Two antique cars, a 1916 Chevy Truck and a 1955 Pontiac custom car, add to the feel of the home.
Art Winters had inherited the house from his mother, Frieda Stumpe Winters. The house was built circa 1910 by his ancestor William Stumpe, a brick maker. William's brother built the house next door which was Art's Grandmother's house.
"Bed and Breakfasts are an individual proposition," Kathy Winters said. "It's people and their hospitality that make it work."
